Wild garlic foraging & baking workshop
Working with my friend and colleague Sarah Ratchford you will experience this very special seasonal foraging workshop in Firle. We will be running this in my friend Janet Sellers house and gardens where she has a woodland full of wild garlic! We will walk, forage, and learn about the benefits and beauty of wild garlic, how to forage safely, make a bread dough and wild garlic pesto which we will use in our baking, before sharing a light lunch of wild garlic soup, freshly baked wild garlic pesto bread and salad. You will go home with your own pot of pesto, a wild garlic loaf and plenty of ideas of how to harness the benefits of wild garlic for yourself.
Living and working in Firle nestled in the Southdowns is a complete joy and living in rhythm with its seasons is something we’d love to share with you.
10am - 2pm
We will welcome you into this beautiful home and garden with some tea and one of Janet’s famous cheese scones or homemade shortbread
before starting the day.
10am: Welcome and an introduction to foraging for wild garlic & baking
10:30 am: Make a simple yeasted dough, where you will learn the skills of weighing, making and kneading
11:00am: You will learn how to forage safely before taking a short walk to the woodland area to gather wild garlic
11:40am: Learn different types of pesto and make your own pesto to fill the dough.
12:15pm: Shape and fill the dough and leave to prove.
1:15pm. Learn how to bake your bread in the oven.
1:30pm Relax before sharing a delicious lunch of wild garlic soup, freshly baked pesto bread and cheese.
2:30pm close the day.
